Services

11am Sunday Service

Everyone is very welcome, no matter where they come from and whoever they are. Our main Sunday service is an informal version of the Anglican tradition and draws together a diverse range of people of all ages.

On the first Sunday of every month we have a family service, where all ages can worship and learn together in a shorter, more interactive and informal service.

All other Sundays include Holy Communion and children’s activities in the hall.

There is an area within the main church building with resources for very small children to use during the service under parental/carer supervision.

Refreshments are served after the 11am Service.

Pre-Schoolers
Within church we have an area for little ones to enjoy during the 11am service. This includes a set activity each week, a play tent and treasure baskets which encourage the children to learn through play. Parents/carers can sit nearby or join in with the fun.

School-Age Children and Young People
During the 11am service children of school age go out into the church hall under the supervision of our children’s work leaders. They return before the end of the service. In our children’s and youth work at St John’s we teach on the same topic the adults are hearing about in the main service each week. This is so that families can discuss the wider themes that come up and so that as a church family we can be thinking and praying through the Bible in a unified way. The leaders also pray each week for all the children who attend St John’s.

Ignite
Children who are in Reception to Year 6 are part of our Ignite group. They learn about the Bible and God’s great love for them in a way they can understand. This might be with play-doh, paints, crafts, puppets, dance and music and many other fun activities. Children are encouraged to ask questions and think about how Bible teachings might change the things they say and do.

At St John’s we love to make all people feel welcome to all of our services – whether you’ve always felt home in a church building or are completely new to all things churchy.
