Our History

At St John’s we’re grateful for our heritage.

St John’s has been at the heart of Corby for centuries. Our church family has worshipped here since before the Domesday Book, and our beautiful church building has stood for around 800 years.

We give thanks for the generations of faithful Christians who have gone before us. Their prayers, worship and service have helped shape the church we are today, and we are privileged to continue their story.

Our church building has witnessed almost a thousand years of history. Within its walls you’ll find traces of the original Saxon church, remarkable medieval craftsmanship, and countless reminders of the people who have worshipped here through the centuries.

In the video below, historian Dr Peter Hill explores the fascinating story of St John’s, uncovering some of the building’s hidden features, historical mysteries and remarkable heritage.
